So today is the day. Day 1 of my journey to end my relationship with the Devil's Juice.
No more soda for me. No more caffeinated beverages. No more fizzy drinks. No mas. Nada. Nothing. Zip. Bupkiss. Cold turkey for the next three weeks. They say it takes three weeks to make something a habit, and that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to make not drinking soda a habit.
This is going to suck!
But the soda's going to kill me. It's going to give me the diabetes if I don't cut it out now. So here I go.
I'm keeping a log of my daily progress on my computer, but I figured I'd post the announcement here as well to cement my intentions.
I'm done with you, DR. Pepper. It's over. It's been nice, but I don't love you anymore. Coca Cola, you dark-hued beauty, you've made me happy in the past, but now you are ugly to me. So I say farewell. I'm done with this co-dependent relationship. I need to be free.
Goodbye.
I'm going to do this, because from now on any glass of soda I'll ever drink is nothing less than a Big Cup of Fail, mocking me and reminding me of how weak I am.
But I'm stronger than that. I just know it.
Let the Pain commence!

Dan I feel for you. I have tried to quit so many times and i can't do it it just SUCKS me back in and it is awful! I hate IT! I need like a "nicotine patch" or "caffine patch" I will probably die at young age. Some people say that i have DR.Pepper as my blood. Good luck!
One word....DEW.
I feel your pain
Eh. It's not so hard not drinking it. Just don't.
There was a few months during my early 20th year when I was addicted to Mountain Dew. But then I noticed my stomach was feeling...weird. I blamed it on the Dew and quit...and my stomach stopped hurting. I've been addiction-free since.
Water is the juice of the gods.
And what a great usage of the word "bupkiss." People just don't use it enough these days.
I LOVE water! I found it was easy to stop drinking soda, because you replace it with something...like water. (Which actually quinches your thirst instead of intensifying it) But Ice cream and chocolate?? What can you use to replace those delicious things? Because alas "nothing compares to you" dear creamy milk chocolate. YUM!
There is no substitute. That's why I wear the title of fatty.
BTW...Chelcie, I hear you make the best chocolate chip cookies and brownies. I'll be expecting a sample soon.
As soon as I am up there, I will be happy to let you sample what I make...but I don't think they are anywhere near "the best"
That is what Bonnie said. I think she's going through withdrawals.
They are the best Chelcie.
I made some cookies the other day... They were so hard that one would have to soak it in milk before taking a bight. It was pretty bad.
The whole time I was thinking, I wish Chelcie was here with her killer recipe and skill...
Oh great, now my belly rumbles like a beast...
I'll drink to that!
The other day I purchased a Wild cherry Pepsi at a top stop here in town. They were out of Mt. Dew and Dr. Pepper so I had to settle on the Wild Cherry. I get going down the road and open it up and there was no pshh. The thing was flat. I emailed a complaint and guess what I got in the mail. A certificate for a FREE six or eight pack of a Pepsi product. So I'll gladly drink a few for you next weekend while we are camping. All for your benefit of course.
You.
Are.
Cruel.
It's all good.
One week today and I'm still on the wagon. Yesterday I had the queen mother of all caffeine headaches. I needed a Dr. Pepper so bad I could taste it, but I stayed strong.
'Course, Chelcie's chocolate chip cookies helped out alot tonight while we were playing games.
Mmmmm... So gooey, so rich, so sugary. Ahh...
I think I'm going to make it with this whole No Soda thing.
So how goes it Dan???? Water is the best!! While Alan and I were in Colorado I made the mistake of "falling off the wagon" and having a mountain dew or two. (Big mistake). It really made me sick. So stay strong Dan!!! You can do this.
I just got my free six pack tonight. I'll savor every sip of it for all you that jumped off the wagon temporarily. The dark side beckons.
By the way, we'll think of you all while we are camping this weekend. Pictures will be posted.
